Is it ok to back project an LCD projector as a graphic background?

I'm planning to shoot a talking head subject (full shot to medium shot) with a white opaque sheet as a background to which a video graphic is projected from an LCD projector from the back of the sheet. Has any one done this before? This can work, but trying to record video in a video can be tricky.

You will need to set the projector is the slowest frame rate possible and set your camcorder to the fastest frame rate possible. This should eliminate the floating black bars - the ones you get from filming a tv screen with a video camera.

* There is another option that does not include the projector: green screening.

If you have Final Cut or Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, you can skip using the projector (especially if you are using Final Cut Pro 6). You don't need an actual green screen or blue screen. You can use any color as long as it clashes with your subject and none of the clothing or items in front of the screen are the same color as the screen.

All you have to do is record your subject in front of the color and capture the video to the editing program. There is a menu in FCP that allows you to match the green screen color. You then import the video graphic into FCP and add it to the video as if you were overlaying one video (the subject) over another (the graphic). This is how Apple does the Apple and Mac commercials and how all those people on YouTube do it too
